David Mercer - Smoke

I started painted in watercolour a long time ago but now I make artwork using acrylic paint and other mixed media such as oil pastels, woody pencils, and charcoal.

I also make some digital art, this is an exciting and emerging area, sometimes based on photographs merged and blended together, or is art made initially on an iPad.

In 2022 I entered and was fortunate to win, the North York Moors National Park Art award

Currently, I am focussed on semi-abstract paintings inspired by my reaction to the landscape.My work is inspired by the North York Moors National Park where I live, but I also find inspiration in Scotland where the rugged coastline and scenery is a contrast to the softer curves of the moors.
