Louise O'Hara is a professional Mixed Media Artist based in the heart of Cheshire. After a degree in Fashion and Textiles and a career in teaching, Louise became a full time artist with her own studio in 2014. It's filled to the rafters with boxes of ephemera, vintage fabrics, typewriters, sewing machines, threads, hand painted papers and books.
"My style has been described as quintessentially English, romantic and nostalgic. My work explores the richness of light, the colour and the texture that I see around me. Often focusing on rugged northern landscapes with brooding skies and lighter coastal scenes that are based on the memory of a place or a childhood holiday.
Within my work I use a combination of layered surfaces, collaged fabrics and papers, machine, hand stitch and drawing to create one off pieces and I like to incorporate vintage and discarded items into my work to convey messages of nostalgia and I use collage and stitch to hold layers together but also as a tool for drawing."
